Racing Dates

Racing on both the dirt and turf tracks at Santa Rosa takes place as part of the Sonoma County Fair at the Fairgrounds over 8 race days in early to mid-August. Post time on Thursdays is 1.15PM, Friday it is 2.15PM and Saturdays and Sundays 1.15PM. All results will be shown here!

About Santa Rosa

The annual Sonoma County Fair takes place at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa which has as part of its facilities an exhibition center and of course the race track itself.

The horse racing facility and jockey club envelope a golf course and are placed alongside several open-air amphitheaters and various other buildings. Although the fair, with horse racing at its center, runs in the summer time many other events and exhibits take place throughout the year including concerts and boxing bouts.

Established in 1993 in its current guise, Santa Rosa’s racing entity offers year-round wagering on horse racing and hosts thoroughbred, quarter horse and appaloosa racing during the fair.

The Fairgrounds sit less than two hours from Sacramento and only one hour from San Francisco meaning many out of town visitors take advantage of the racing offering during the festivities.

Santa Rosa History

Horse racing has been at the centre of the county fair and its fairgrounds for a long time. Racing started there back in 1936 and is something many have looked forward to every summer since.

Santa Rosa Track Details

Santa Rosa has a one-mile dirt oval and a relatively new, seven-furlong turf track which is built on a bed of sand.
