About Evangeline Downs

Located in about 140 miles west of New Orleans, Evangeline Downs hosts Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse races and has been running since 1966, but moved to the current location in 2005. Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino is the first “Racino” built in this country from the ground up, and is the track future Hall of Fame inductee John Henry made his racing debut.

Evangeline Downs Track Details

The main track is a one-mile dirt oval, with a seven-eights of a mile turf track featuring a 1 1/8-mile chute.
