About Arapahoe Park

The Colorado race track hosts racing for thoroughbred, quarter horse, paint horse and Arabian horses throughout its season which runs for four months.

During Arapahoe’s off-season, visitors can watch and wager on races from all around North America at the Mile High Racing OTB’s, something which greatly helps the track maintain strong purse values on the track.

Arapahoe is located east of Denver, around 29 miles from the downtown area (40 minutes by car) and only 20 miles from Denver International Airport, meaning no issues in drawing good crowds during the short racing meet.

There is no doubt that, just like dozens of other tracks around the States, Arapahoe Park would have benefited even further from an election win regarding Amendment 68 which would have allowed the facility to turn into a racino, however this was defeated and so no slot machines or poker tables can be placed at the facility just yet.

In many other places such an installation has ensured even bigger purse levels on the track and no debt worries, however this will have to wait a while longer in Colorado.

Arapahoe Park Track Details

There is a standard sized, one-mile dirt oval at Arapahoe Park which also features three chutes to accommodate races of varying distances. There is no turf track at this location. Plenty of room is offered for stabling and for horsemen off the backstretch.
